Come out for a relaxing evening of crafting fun! In honor of the Summer Reading theme, Color Our World, The Bookmark Book Discussion and the Anne Supsic Author Talk, adults are invited to weave their own bookmark using a miniature loom kit.
Don’t forget to join us for The Bookmark Book Discussion which will be held on Wednesday, July 9th from 6:30-7:45pm in the library’s multipurpose room.
On Tuesday, August 12th from 6:30-7:45pm in the Lower Macungie Library’s multipurpose room, Anne Supsic will give an author talk on her historical fiction novel, The Bookmark. Her book features a dual timeline with one storyline in the past and one in the present, but both inspired by the fact that the Marquis de Lafayette spent a month in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, recovering from a battle wound during the American Revolution. He was cared for by a Moravian sister named Liesl Boeckel, and gossips of the time speculated of a romance. In the modern story, a young woman named Abbey Prescott discovers an 18th century bookmark with a secret that may reveal what really happened between the legendary Frenchman and the Moravian maid. Anne will share the history behind the book and the experience of writing it. She will also provide a sneak preview of her next book, Women of Steel. After the author talk, there will be time for a book signing. Supsic will have The Bookmark available for sale on the night of the program. Please note the library will not be selling the book.
