Our sweet foster girl Mimzy was diagnosed with heartworm disease on May 5, 2025. Despite having tested negative in December of 2024 and being on monthly prevention since her intake at OCAC it somehow managed to develop and go undetected until that day. Early in the morning, Mimzy started to show signs of cardiac distress and she was rushed to the amazing doctors at OVRS where they quickly identified the issue. Labs were drawn and she tested positive for heartworm and was hospitalized/monitored overnight.
The KG Foundation has stepped up to pay for her medical care however the vet bills are starting to stack up. Mim had her first treatment the first week of July and is doing very well thus far however, between the hospitalization at OVRS, all the medications it took (and is still taking) to prep her body for treatment and the injections and subsequent monitoring and hospitalization that comes with it, KGF is needing the village to step up and help cover the August and September treatments.
If you’ve ever met KGF’s founder, Jordan, you KNOW she is one of the most selfless and dedicated people to walk the earth. She’s someone I love and respect with my whole heart and she pours her heart into saving lives every day. Can we help lift even a little bit of this burden off her shoulders?
