Seasonal Movement and Stillness Workshops: meditation, qi gong and self-shiatsu to guide us into Summer
Tanja: Fully qualified Shiatsu Practitioner (MrSS)
Emma: Fully Qualified Meditation Teacher (DipBSoM) and Reflexology Practitioner (CRM5)
We are both Practitioners at Silk House Therapy & Wellbeing
This will be the first of our Seasonal Movement and Stillness Workshops. We will be immersing ourselves in Shiatsu and Meditation practices to connect with Summer, which encourages us to fully emerge and connect with others and the world.
The meditations will be skillfully written for all levels, including beginners. The categories of meditation covered for this workshop will be focused attention (breath) and open awareness (contemplation and mindfulness). You will learn meditation techniques to take home with you. There will be an opportunity to take a moment to reflect and journal post meditations. Focus and Flow's meditations are written to guide you into a more alert and rested state. Emma applies her teaching skills to deliver meditations for varied learning styles. There are several options and invitations given throughout to ensure that all can benefit from the practice.
We will use Shiatsu and Qi Gong to inform our movement. There will be brief explanations about Meridians and Five Elements (following Traditional Chinese Medicine) with exercises and movements that support the Fire element, the element that is associated with the Summer. There will be some Makka Ho exercises (Meridian stretches practiced in Shiatsu), some Qi Gong-inspired movements and connection with specific Acupressure Points that connect with the Fire elements.
Why Seasonal Workshops?
Working with the seasons can be beneficial for us in terms of connecting with ourselves and the world around us. Weaving through the seasons promotes a more mindful and meaningful way of living, connecting with nature and tuning into the natural rhythms of life. Mindfulness meditations can aid with our process in connecting with the seasons by training the mind to become more present and aware, noticing the more subtle sensations in life which give a sense of ‘aliveness.’ Shiatsu and Qi gong are energetic practices that can help us connect with the changes happening in nature and draw support from nature and the elements to help bring our bodies into balance at the physical, mental and emotional levels.
