Dawn Chorus Walk on Danes Moss North

Come join us for a morning ramble on Danes Moss North to experience the beautiful dawn chorus of the local bird population. This walk is perfect for early risers who want to connect with nature, learn about the local bird population and further understand the importance of the Danes Moss habitat in supporting the bird population to thrive.

We will be joined by David Tolliday. David has been a volunteer for the RSPB for over 38 years, regularly undertakes bird, butterfly and dragonfly surveys and is involved with many other bird and wildlife groups in the local area including Swifts Over Macclesfield. David will help guide participants through the experience and share some of his wealth of knowledge about birds on the Moss.

This is a FREE event. Book early as places limited to 40, these walks are always very popular.

Meeting point: at the kissing gate on the bend on Moss Lane

Parking: There is unrestricted street parking on the streets around Moss Lane. Please park safely and considerately of residents.

Under 18s: are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

Dogs: we're sorry, please leave dogs at home on this occasion.

What to bring: please wear suitable sturdy footwear, clothing suitable for the weather and water. Binoculars if you have them will be useful. Phones are good for photos - and we will be using the Merlin Bird ID app - you might want to check it out in advance if you're not familiar with it, but it's not necessary ( https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/).

Directions to get here:

Travelling from Congleton Rd, continue past Henshaws, past Barratt Homes sign, as you pass a white house with a SDM placard you'll see chevrons just on the right and kissing gate, which is the meeting point. After sharp lefthand bend carry on over junction on to Ash Grove, where there is unrestricted parking.

Travelling from London Road, pass the football grounds, continue past the row of shops, incl Macc Petfood Supplies, as you pass Golden Lion Pub (closed) take next right turn up Ash Grove, where there is unrestricted parking. Head back to Moss Lane/ Ash Grove junction and look for chevron sign next to kissing gate, which is the meeting point.
