Ceramics: Workshop

Join us for a hands-on creative workshop where you will design and paint your own ceramic cup, inspired by the historic patterns of the Sphinx Factory in Maastricht.

Once one of the city’s most iconic ceramic producers, Sphinx played a central role in Maastricht’s industrial and cultural heritage, shaping local identity through its distinctive designs.

In this session, we bring those patterns back to life as a form of heritage preservation through craft. Participants will learn about the history of the Sphinx factory, its influence on daily life in Maastricht, and the importance of keeping these visual traditions alive.

Guided by a ceramic artist, you will then create your own interpretation of Sphinx motifs, blending history with personal creativity.

No prior experience is needed – just curiosity, creativity, and a love for heritage. By the end of the workshop, you will not only take home a unique hand-painted cup, but also contribute to keeping Maastricht’s cultural memory alive through craft.
