The Vision30 Summit presents a facilitated film screening of the Sound Of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot. This powerful film tells the true story of 22 families from a rural Black church who stepped forward to care for children in the foster system no one else would take. It’s raw, faith-driven, and deeply human — a testimony to what love and community can do.
Please Note: The film contains authentic portrayals of trauma and may not be suitable for young children. Please use discretion when considering bringing kids.
After the screening, we’ll host a brief reflection circle to process and connect as a community.

Synopsis:

Inspired by the powerful true story, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, follows Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural church to embrace kids in the foster system that nobody else would take. By doing the impossible–adopting 77 children–this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America’s most vulnerable can be won.
