Gouyad is style of Haitian dance typically performed by couples. It is characterized by slow and deliberate waist whining.The term "gouye" itself is Haitian Creole for "to whine". Gouyad Solo teaches the individual dancer how to creatively rotate their hips, waist and arms to the rhythms of Konpa Music. It encourages a dance performance for self.
