During Bok och Bild, Gloria López Cleries will hold an artist talk where she will share insights into her work, creative process, and research methods. López Cleries is a contemporary artist exploring the connections between art, technology, and mysticism. Currently, she is active with the exhibition Sprickor i taket in the Luleå Art Gallery, where she is showcasing a sound piece created through the workshop Speculative Imagination. In this collaborative project she, and artist Sive Hamilton Helle, engaged participants in collective creative explorations of Norrbotten’ s relationship to language and technology.
López Cleries has exhibited at prestigious institutions such as the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, Lab 36 in Barcelona, and Malmö Art Museum. Her works are included in several national and international art collections. With a background in contemporary art history, as well as visual culture and art, she utilizes her academic experiences to provide in-depth critical analyses of current issues such as emotional capitalism, digital productivity models, and the complex interplay between society, technology, economy, and the environment.
In addition to her artistic practice, López Cleries is a faculty member at HDK-Valand in Gothenburg. There, she is engaged in feminist and critical pedagogical methods and has led and participated in research programs and collective research workshops. Her goal is not only to promote artistic development but also to inspire deeper understanding and meaningful conversations about the complex issues shaping our time.
Language: The talk will be held in English, but there will be time for questions, which can be asked in Swedish if desired.
Venue: Konsthallen
