What do ancient Egyptian culture and artificial intelligence (AI) have in common? At first glance, not much. However, at Luleå University of Technology, research is bridging the gap between these two seemingly distant fields.
In this talk, we’ll take you on a journey through the fascinating world of ancient Egypt. What do Egyptologists actually study? How do hieroglyphs work? What can we learn from the monuments and texts left behind by the pharaohs?
At the same time, AI is everywhere, but it's not just about chatbots and image generators. Can machines help us to read ancient texts? Can they reconstruct damaged artefacts? Or discover hidden patterns in historical data?
Stephan M. Unter, a researcher at the University, with a background in Egyptology and computer science, will demonstrate how digital tools are changing the way we explore the past and what the future of historical research might look like. Whether you're interested in history or technology, or you're simply curious, this talk is for you.
The talk is in English. Welcome!
