Learn the art of Junk Journaling with artist Diana Meade in this 2.5 hour class.
What do brown paper bags, old envelopes, and yesterday’s junk mail have in common? They’re all secret ingredients in this fun, low-pressure workshop where we turn ordinary bits into soulful art journals.
In this hands-on class, we’ll use recycled materials—like a paper bag or padded mailer—as the foundation for a handmade junk journal. You’ll learn simple folding and layering techniques to create textured pages with personality, perfect for writing, sketching, or gluing in more found treasures. We’ll lean into a fall botanical theme, using the sights and feel of the season in earthy tones as inspiration for color, collage, and mark-making.
Please bring:
a) Junk mail, security envelopes, random paper scraps
b) Ephemera: receipts, old photos, book pages, ticket stubs, used greeting cards, etc.
c) Any bits you love but don’t know what to do with
All other materials provided. You’ll leave with a mini-journal and ideas to keep going at home.
Ages 18 and up are welcome to register at metlufkin.org/classes
