The 50-mile rides are on Sunday 11 January, start times: 4 hours, 08.30, 3½ hours, 09.00, 3 hours, 09.30. The 100 km rides are on Sunday 25 January, same start times but 4½, 4 and 3½ hours respectively.
As always, they will be weather dependant and, if appropriate, I would look to postpone, not cancel.
The main point is the change of start and finish. The start is now from the Cotmer Road/Colville Road/Elm Tree Road roundabout and the finish is at The Bell Inn, Carlton Colville. For those of you who live outside Lowestoft and might not be sure where the start is, I suggest you use Google Maps for directions to the Dell Care Home (45 Cotmer Road, Lowestoft, NR33 9PL), which is alongside.
If you will be driving over, the pub's manager has said it will be okay to use the car park, which is, of course, free (approx 1 mile from the start). However, I said I would stress the importance of giving the pub some patronage. Please do, even if only to have a hot drink. Indeed, the rides are still free, so I hope all riders will give some patronage. It's not just my opinion that the food is excellent. It offers light (ish) bites of wraps, or more substantial meals. If so inclined, you could probably have a Sunday roast.
The alternative to the pub car park is the pay and display at the previous finish, opposite St Mark church, in Bridge Road, Oulton Broad (NR33 9JX). It's £5.00 for over 4 hours and payment is by app only.
To explain, the main reason for the change is that I'm no longer a car owner so can't serve refreshments from one. Ironically, at 50.25 miles and 100.18 km respectively the revised routes are more spot on. So, a pub finish and routes ½ -¾ mile shorter! What's not to like?!
