Local folk-rockers Rain & the Urban Bohemians are making the most of the shortest day this year, by putting on a Winter Solstice Party at Abandoned Brewery Petone! Supported by a couple of stella solo singer-songwriter acts, the night is set to be a celebration of life, love, and local original music. Plus the days getting longer again from here on out!
Fronted by singer-songwriter Cathy Elizabeth, aka Rain, and wrapped around by her slick band the Urban Bohemians, this is a group creating their own unique sound, and doing it well. Psychedelic folk-rock vibes, peppered with contemplations of our existence and the fleetingness of time. Rain & the UBs always create a little bit of magic with their spell-binding set, and they've got to be the hottest bunch of over 40-year-olds around, hands down!
Bringing the dirty gritty rock sound to the evening we will have "Scoundrel, Libertine, & Rogue" Danny Rascal, who is currently riding the wave of his recent album release Thursday's Child, and fresh off multiple show dates and support slots ... with energy and sass to burn, he will be the perfect crowd warmer-upper.
And introducing the evening like the wafting of a sage stick we have Mercy Lie, the musical guise of local soundmaker Laura Chester-Murphy. With acoustic songs influenced by country, indie, punk, pop, rave, and folk, the original songs of Mercy Lie will haunt, surprise, remind and affirm.
So grab your tickets and we will see you there on the 21st June!
