Hardwick Smith Lounge Working Bee

We have permission from the Hutt City Council to do some work on the interior of the Lounge as the first step in restoring it and getting it returned for community use.

Over the Matariki weekend, we are organising a working bee to remove all of the lining material from the interior walls of the Lounge so that the structural elements can be inspected. This will then allow improved estimates of the amount, and the cost, of the work to repair or replace the damaged timbers.

The working bee will be from 10am to midday on each of Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd. Anyone going into the building must wear an approved respiratory mask (which we will supply) and spend no more that half an hour inside on each day. These are H&S requirements specified by HCC.

I am inviting anyone who has time and is keen to help us restore the Hardwick Smith Lounge to join us on one or both days for this community initiative. Please ensure you wear appropriate shoes and clothes that don't mind getting dirty.
