Outdoor First Aid - 16 hour, Level 3 course at Wild Pines Park. Join Wilderness Ways on Saturday 5 July 2025 at 08:30 AM for 2 full days of training led by our First Aid Instructor. Whether you're a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or just looking to be prepared for that next outdoors situation, this course is for you.
The course will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to respond to a range of emergency outdoor situations including:
Summoning assistance
Responding to changes in vital signs
Primary and secondary surveys,
Administering CPR
Recovery position
Environmental considerations
Disorders of circulation
Disorders of respiration
Hypovolaemic shock
Bones, joints and muscle injuries
Burns
Head and spinal injuries
Chest and abdominal injuries
Anaphylaxis
Effects of extreme heat and cold
Bites and stings and more.
The qualification meets the Outdoor First Aid Band 3 requirements set by the Institute for Outdoor Learning and the requirements for the first aid element of the expedition syllabus for the bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Assessment is through a written exam and ongoing throughout with scenario based situations to consolidate the learning so a 'have a go attitude' is a must!
Please wear clothing suitable for the days weather forecast and bring your own packed lunch.

Important note : All attendees must be able to get to the floor and manoeuvre unassisted to conduct and pass the practical assessments.
