Silver Lake Walks -- Mixville & Silver Lake Heights

This is the last of the Silver Lake Walks! On it, we will stroll through northeast Silver Lake. Since it's the last week and since it will be early summer, I thought an evening walk would make for an appropriately elegiac ending. The sun should be setting when we pass through the Silver Lake Meadow.

On the walk will learn visit the sites of a Mexican anarcho-communist commune, an early movie ranch, and abandoned passenger train line, and more -- visiting, as usual, many fine examples of residential and commercial architecture along the way.

This walk -- roughly 4.5 miles -- will begin in front of the Silver Lake Library, where there's a Metro bus stop on the 92 Line and a Metro Bike Share station. It's a fairly hilly route although less steep than some. Only one (pretty tall) staircase up and one down.

Please be prepared: Bring water, snacks, sunblock, and whatever else you might need. Check weather beforehand and wear comfortable shoes and clothes. I've been encouraged to emphasize that these walks are fairly rigorous. If, for any reason, you need to leave the walk at any time, I will help you figure out how to get back to the starting point.

I can only estimate how long the walk will take but all, so far, have taken between three and three and a half hours... and we'll end near Gus's Tacos, Gingergrass, Silver Lake Wine, and the Red Lion -- so there will be food options nearby.
