剧情概要：

北平解放前一年。一个名叫"窝头会馆"的小四合院里，住着好几户挣扎在社会底层的人家，这些有着形形色色缺点的小人物，有的爱钱如命，有的嘴皮子刻薄，有的小心眼儿……在黎明到来前的黑暗里，这些小人物与困顿的生活、各种苛捐杂税、恶人的欺诈乃至命运和人心作着各种抗争，而生活的艰辛最终不能泯灭人性的美好，在曙光将现的时候，旧的逝去，新的来临……

Plot Summary:
One year before the liberation of Beiping (now Beijing), several families struggling at the bottom of society lived together in a small courtyard house called Wotou Courtyard. Among these people—ordinary people with various personalities and flaws—some were obsessed with money, some were involved in sharp-tongued gossips, and some were calculated and full of worldly intelligence. In this period of darkness before dawn, these small characters struggle against hardship: oppressive taxes, exploitation by scoundrels, and the weight of fate and human nature. Yet, despite the difficulties of life, the beauty of humanity was not extinguished. As the first light of dawn approached, the old days faded away, and the new day has begun...
