About this Event

Film Fatales members are invited to join writers from Off the Page for a Book Swap and Mixer in Los Angeles. Bring a stack of your old books, a picnic blanket, and your favorite snack for a day, and come refresh your bookshelves and get your networking on!

Are your books spilling out of your bookshelves? Do you somehow have three copies of A Court of Thorns and Roses? (How did that happen?!) Is your nightstand book stack just on the verge of toppling over? If that sounds like you, come join us for a Book Swap & Mixer hosted by Off the Page and Film Fatales!

This in-person event is for current Film Fatales Members in Los Angeles. Log into the Member Portal for your complimentary member ticket. No plus ones.

Here's how it'll work:

  • Everyone will bring some books they're cool with saying goodbye to, and we'll lay out all the books on blankets and tables for a free-for-all giveaway for everyone to take what they like!
  • Spend some time between book browsing to grab refreshments and network with your fellow writers, directors, reps, producers, and executives
  • After the event, our team will bring the extra books leftover to charitable organizations including Re-Book It and Booksustain

Here's what to bring:

  • Books that need a new home - no more than you can reasonably carry in one trip, please!
  • Your favorite snack or non-alcoholic bev
  • A picnic blanket or beach towel so you and your books can have a seat on the grass!

Parking Information: There is limited parking available at two attached lots. Street parking is available in the nearby neighborhood - please check parking signs before parking! Contact us for an accessible accommodation.

Accessibility Notes: ADA parking is available in the lot adjoining the Penmar Recreation Center building. Contact ZXZlbnRzIHwgZmlsbWZhdGFsZXMgISBvcmc= with any questions. See you there!

This in-person social mixer is for current members of Film Fatales and Off the Page only. We are committed to creating a where filmmakers can gather and support one another. Be respectful to other participants. Avoid assuming people’s needs, gender identities, and/or backgrounds. Creating an inclusive space requires acknowledging existing power dynamics. If you are from a dominant or privileged identity please practice making space, through listening, unseating yourself, and passing the mic. If you are from a historically marginalized group, please practice taking up space, sharing your ideas, and raising your voice. Thanks for joining us!
