During a globally or personally difficult time, it can be hard to cultivate a routine of care that actually brings peace. From painting to hiking, there are a number of things we can incorporate into our day that can calm the nervous system, promote a wider perspective, and spark inspiration. And one of those magical tools can likely be found on your nightstand - your latest read.
Join Art + Practice, Lore Leimert Park, and Alison Griffin of Treats, as we learn about the neuroscience behind burnout, the importance of rituals to our overall health, and the never-ending benefits that come with pouring back into our being. Alison will give a short presentation covering the history, mechanics, and cultural relevance of burnout, introducing the community to the basis of the ritual-flow state. She will then guide us through a few reading focus exercises to help with concentration and comprehension, opening the floor up to the group to share their experiences (the good, the neutral, the challenging), building a reading practice, and generally carving out some personal time. As always, there will be time for Q+A and, equipped with the knowledge of what and how you’d like to read going forward, guests will be invited to shop Lore’s incredible selection of works downstairs.
Prioritizing rest and play doesn’t always come easy. We’re in this together.
