Andrew Nicholls was born in England, raised there and in Canada, and has written for television, radio, print and stage. With Darrell Vickers, he began the folk-punk band Nobby Clegg & the Civilians, created twenty live-action and animated TV series, and was co-head writer of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. His short fiction and humor is in Black Clock, The Santa Monica Review, The Los Angeles Review of Books, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency and elsewhere. In 2019 he was Artist in Residence at UC Davis, whose department of Theater and Drama produced his full-length play, LOVE/Logic. His 2022 play Yes, And… won the nationwide Frostburg, Maryland One-Act Play competition. He’s the author of the cautionary memoir Valuable Lessons, and of Comedy Writer (2020). AS MAN IS TO GOD: A Poem on the Making of Werner Herrzog’s “Fitzcarraldo” published by Slow Lightning Lit is his first book of poetry. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, novelist Janet Fitch.
