From Strasbourg to Canterbury: Bucer’s Legacy in the English Reformation

Before Calvin reformed Geneva, Martin Bucer was shaping a generation of reformers with his vision of a church grounded in Scripture, ordered worship, and pastoral charity. Bucer mentored John Calvin in Strasbourg and later counseled Archbishop Thomas Cranmer in England—helping refine the 1552 Book of Common Prayer, a important liturgical moment of the Reformation.
