Join the POP Club at the Downtown Los Altos Farmers' Market every Thursday in August for fun, fruit-filled activities that teach kids about where their food comes from, how it's grown, and why eating fresh is important.
Each week brings a new adventure - here's what's coming up:
🍑August 7 – Fresh vs. Dried Fruit
Fresh versus dried fruit—what are the differences in taste and texture, and why do farmers dry their fruit each season? Come try some of what’s in season & learn more about different produce preservation methods!
🍓August 14 – Get to Know Where it Grows
Different types of produce like to grow in different areas throughout California. Can you guess where strawberries, peaches, and carrots grow? Learn all about where different crops are grown throughout California, as well as where farmers at the Downtown Los Altos Farmers Market grow their produce!
🌱August 21 – Little Seed Savers!
Learn all about a fun way to prepare to grow fruits & vegetables in your garden for next season—seed saving! Almost all fruits & vegetables have different types of seeds that can be planted next season—at this event, you will learn all about that process and even have the chance to take home some seeds of your own!
🪱August 28 – Compost Superheroes
Join us to learn more about what makes soil so rich in nutrients and allows for fruits & veggies to happily grow—compost! Together, we’ll dive deep into the food cycle and have the chance to meet some wiggly friends who help us break down our food to create rich soil- worms!
📍Open to families with kids 12 and under (parental supervision is required)
