SCHEDULE UPDATE : This August 16 Games Day will be the last one for a few months, since we have to cancel for September, October, and November. We'll be back on December 20. See the Games Day Web page (
https://groups.io/g/gamesday) for all the details. Or better yet, get on the mailing list!
IMPORTANT : See the Games Day Web page for all the details about this event:

I don't plan to announce every occurrence of Games Day on Facebook. So the best way to keep up with announcements about future meetings, or contact others to plan specific games to play, is to join the Games Day groups.io mailing list. You can join either by clicking the blue "Join This Group" button at the bottom of that Web page (
https://groups.io/g/gamesday) , or sending an email to gamesday+

This daylong tabletop boardgaming meetup has been happening for over 25 years in the community room (Orchard Room) of the main branch of the Los Altos, CA library, in the South Bay near San Jose. We meet on the third Saturday of each month from 10 AM to 8 PM.
Here are the UPDATED main rules and guidelines to keep in mind when you attend Games Day:
- Do not park next to the library. Instead, park in the lot south of the Community Center (which is southeast of the library), or in the lot next to City Hall (which is north of the library).
- When you come into the room, put a tally mark for each person in your group on the attendance sheet near the door.
- Masks are optional but do wear one if it makes you feel more comfortable in a large public group.
- You can bring and consume drinks and packaged food only (like bags of chips) in the room. Eat non-packaged food out in the lobby.
- Write the names of the games you play on the big whiteboard next to the room's entrance. But do check if your game has already been written down!
There have been some small updates over the past few years of other rules that come up less often, so please have another look at the rules for attendees of Games Day if you haven't attended for awhile:

We play mostly recent and classic Eurogames, the kind of games that are marked as hot or ranked high on
https://boardgamegeek.com But we also play many other sorts of tabletop games, including family games, Ameritrash, and wargames. Here's a BGG geeklist of what got played at the July 2025 event:

Attendance is around 30-50 people, so it's easy to find players for most kinds of games.
Although Games Day is mostly geared toward hobbyist boardgamers, we do welcome newcomers to gaming, and families with kids.
