About the event

The Architecture of the Design Museum

The iconic Design Museum building used to be the Commonwealth Institute, which opened in 1962 and was designed by the architectural firm RMJM. After the closure of this unique landmark Grade II* listed building in 2003, it stood vacant for more than a decade - before being transformed by John Pawson’s design team, who made the building fit for a 21st-century museum.
