This month, we’re thrilled to welcome the incredible Visaka as our headliner at Katakaya for a night of Hip Hop, Spoken Word, and good vibes. [TEXT]ure is back with a bang – and you won’t want to miss it!

About Visaka:

Born in London to Sri Lankan and Gambian parents, Visaka’s artistry is a powerful blend of her multicultural heritage. After spending her early years in Gambia, she returned to the UK, where her musical journey began. Influenced by the rich percussive sounds of West Africa, the rhythms of the East, and everything in between, her sound is a unique cocktail of global inspiration.

At 19, she was signed by 2Tone Records and had her debut single played on BBC Asian Network. Though she later stepped away from the label to pursue creative independence, she’s since carved out her own path—working with producers like Vice Vic, Coops, and Cin, and performing at festivals including T On The Green, City Splash, and Hackney Reggae Festival.

Her debut EP Blue Luna weaves ancestral roots with her love of hip-hop, reggae, and jazz. With influences like Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, and Kendrick Lamar, Visaka is redefining what it means to be a young, independent artist—fusing raw expression with spiritual empowerment.
