Run by Annalisa Dunn: designer and consultant for luxury fashion, Co Founder of bio material plastic alternative Bequinâ„¢ , Co Founder of The Stitch Archive, and Associate Lecturer in Textiles at UAL.
This workshop is aimed at helping students and designers who are interested in sustainability to gain a deeper understanding of sustainable textiles and material design.
Topics covered:
The language of sustainability
What does it mean to design for planet – fibres, waste, design methods, science.
How do supply chains impact sustainability?
Experiences of taking new sustainable materials to market
Innovative sustainable companies entering the market
Learning outcomes:
Understand the challenges, the opportunities and the new roles of the growing sustainable textiles market.
Make a plan of how those opportunities can relate to your own personal work and practise.
Study and photograph key traditional textiles and sustainable textiles including biomaterials inside The Stitch Archive
Materials to bring:
sketchbooks, notebooks, pens/pencils.
