Benjamin Franklin House
36 Craven Street, London, United Kingdom
The workshop invites participants to push their creative boundaries by exploring how the specific details of personal, everyday experience can evoke universal feelings through poetry.
Using Objectivist principles inspired by poet William Carlos Williams, the workshop will focus on grounding poetry in concrete reality, encouraging writers to explore how objects and textures evoke memory and emotion without relying on simile or abstraction.
Participants will engage with guided tour of the Benjamin Franklin House to gather physical visuals that then will be applied to the writing exercises.
The workshop will include readings, discussions, and collaborative exercises designed to expand their expressive range and strengthen their connection with readers through precise, evocative language rooted in lived experience.
This is more than a tour, it’s an opportunity to engage with the past in a personal and meaningful way. Through writing and interpretation, you’ll be encouraged to reimagine pivotal moments, give voice to forgotten perspectives, and bring history to life with your own curiosity and creativity.
A Femmepress social workshop in collaboration with Benjamin Franklin House created by Clara Ada Mantegazza, Petra Palkovacsova and Jess Ingram.
