The evening will showcase some of the best young musicians in London. Presented by Om Ensemble and friends, the concert will include various styles of music, ranging from jazz to classical and everything in between.
First to mention is Wilf Diamond, a London-based trombonist, pianist and improviser. Wilf is active on the thriving London jazz scene and is currently writing original material for a new quartet, which he will showcase for this concert. He has performed at venues such as Ronnie Scott's, The Vortex, EartH Hackney and the Southbank Centre and is an alumnus of World Heartbeat Academy, Centre for Young Musicians and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Grounding dreamworlds, reflective currents, without end. South London made Richie is a multi-talented vocalist, trombonist, and producer. She has been a prominent figure on the London music scene, performing internationally and on many notable stages such as The Royal Albert Hall & Glastonbury. She has worked with many artists within the scene and critically acclaimed artists like Solange Knowles, Kokoroko & Dave. From Caribbean heritage, her unique sound reflects her surroundings, roots and experiences. She now embarks on a solo career where she creates a fresh alternative sound inspired by nature, honest conversations & and day-to-day experiences. Fusing sounds like soul, R&B, hip hop, jazz & psychedelic rock, she aims to push boundaries and intends to create soulful bliss.
Rothko Collective is a contemporary music ensemble reshaping and redefining classical music. Through incorporating elements of multimedia and theatre, Rothko creates exciting, immersive, new musical experiences for audiences, as part of their aim of ‘un-boring’ the concert hall. They have commissioned over 20 new works and released 3 albums, including collaborations with State51 and Apartment House. Featured on BBC Radio 3, the collective has toured the UK and Europe to participate in prestigious festivals, and recently organised their own festival, exploring music from the 1600s to the present. The group comprises some of London’s top emerging artists, who have worked with the Riot Ensemble, Chineke!, Explore Ensemble, 12 ensemble, and the Britten Sinfonia.
Om Ensemble residents will be joining the bill, premiering a new composition written by Charlotte Glyn-Woods and Steve Reich's 'Mallet Quartet'.
