About the event

Natural Dying with Buddleia
Join us for a special ecology gathering experimenting with natural dying with buddleia collected on site.

About this Event

For this month's eco gathering, alongside the usual tending to the riverside, we'll be experimenting with natural dyeing using buddleia collected around the site. We've been thinking about the 'vigorous' species on site and how to celebrate their unique properties, as well as managing their vigorous growth. Join us to experiment with this idea by starting with a simple natural dye process, encouraging us to think differently about our surroundings.

We will also be welcoming artists from Insola - Berlin based floating art platform - who we've been in conversation with over the last year about water as a public creative space, themes of ownership and acess, ecology and art.

We'll be making alternative nautical flags that consider ideas and symbols of acessibility, resistance, water and public space...

We will provide tea, water, and cake!

Accessibility information

Knowing access to blue/green space is vital for well-being, Surge endeavor to make our events and community actions as accessible as possible and improving accessibility is built into our long-term goals for the area.

There are wheelchair accessible paths around the Long Wall Path site. The workshops will take place outside. The site has a mixture of paved and earth paths (which can be muddy). There are two levels, and there is ramp access to the lower level. The site has an accessible, all-gender compost toilet. Quiet space will be available (though please note there is nowhere to go inside).

Please don't hesitat to communicate any access needs you have and we will do our best to accomodate you.

We also have a small fund available for accessibility requirments - if there is anything you need to make the event more acessible to you we may be able to help with the costs- eg. childcare, interpretor, signer, access support, or anything else you might need, please get in touch!

PLEASE NOTE:

The Greenway across Channelsea Bridge is currently closed so access to the garden is via the ramp from Abbey Road - see map below.
