London Walking Tour: Untold Histories of Science

What is it?

A 1-hour walking tour of the history of science in central London, with a twist: instead of telling the story of famous scientists, we will uncover the untold contributions made by underrepresented or marginalised identities in the history of science in London. We will explore the diverse range of contributors in the history of science, shedding light on how many more and diverse people have shaped science in London and the world, beyond the dominant stories.

What can you expect?

The format of the walk is based on interactive conversations and learning together through experiences and reflection. We will use different senses like touch, sight, sound and spatial awareness for an immersive experience. Be prepared to participate with your whole self!

Who is it for?

The walk is for adults only. Come along if you are interested either in history of science and are curious about its hidden stories or if you are interested in marginalised identities and don’t know much about science. Or maybe you want to see London in a different way. Of course, any combination in between is welcome. No specific knowledge or expertise is needed, just curiosity.

This walk will be done five times, so choose the ticket that best suits you:

Practical Details

This event is free to attend. However spaces are limited, so please book your spot.

We will meet at the entrance of the Francis Crick Institute (1 Midland Rd, London NW1 1AT). The walk will begin promptly at the specified time, so please plan to arrive a few minutes early.

Dress for an outside walk in the city as it will proceed in any weather. You do not need to bring anything special.
