Level 2: Beginners DJ workshop (4weeks)

Ready to take your DJ skills up a notch? Join our Level 2: Beginners DJ course! Whether you’re mixing for fun or planning your first gig, this course will help you master the basics and get comfortable with the gear and software. Expect hands-on practice, cool tips, and a chill vibe. Perfect for anyone who’s done a bit of DJing and wants to keep the party going!

Level 2 is a 4-week intensive designed to move you from "knowing what the buttons do" to "developing a natural flow." This is all about active practice—honing your ears and your hands.

Focus Areas:

• Navigation & Precision: Mastering Cue Points and Hot Cues to navigate tracks with professional speed.
• Creative Transitioning: Exploring alternatives to standard beat-matching to keep your sets seamless.
• Continuous Mixing: Building the confidence to play "Back-to-Back" continuously and maintain a flow.
• The Digital Library: A deep dive into advanced Rekordbox management, incl exporting playlists to new/formatted USB keys
• Obtaining music: Where and how to download/stream high-quality music.
• Curation: Professional tips for building and organizing a killer music library.
• Additional effects: An introduction to using advanced effects to elevate your transitions.

A Sneak Peek at Level 3:

If we have extra time in class, I’ll also be giving you a "Level 3" teaser, including:

• Introduction to Stems: Splitting tracks in real-time.

• Scratch Basics: An introduction to the fundamentals of scratch DJing.

The Logistics:

• When: Tuesdays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

• Dates: March 3, 10, 24, and 31 (Note: No class on March 17)

• Intimate Learning: Strictly limited to 8 students for maximum hands-on time and direct feedback.

Is this for me? This is a Level 2 "Next Steps" course. To get the most out of these sessions, you should already have a basic understanding of DJ equipment and the fundamentals of mixing including beat matching, understanding phrasing and experience using Rekordbox. We will be moving quickly into active practice, so this intensive is not suitable for absolute beginners.
