Grow Your Own Caribbean Vegetables in London Course: Callaloo
Join experienced growers Dee and Danielle at Allens Gardens in Stoke Newington on June 15th from `1-4pm to learn how to grow Callaloo from seed.
We will also be sharing recipes (please bring your favourite Callaloo recipe!) and exploring questions such as:
You will go home with your own Callaloo plant to watch grow at home, a booklet to help you take care of it and some more seeds.
_______________
Who is this course for: This course is specifically for people of Caribbean heritage who are aged over 18. By Caribbean heritage, we include people of African descent, Asian descent, indigenous Caribbean, multi racial and mixed race peoples. This list is not exhaustive and we rely on trust and honesty for those booking a place.
Absolutely no experience of growing vegetables is necessary.
This workshop is for people aged over 18, however children are welcome as long as they are supervised, but please email us with how many you want to bring, so we know how many to expect. We particularly welcome Hackney residents, who might want to volunteer at Allens Community Garden after the course.
Ticket deposit: Places are free, but we ask you to cancel your place if you can't attend, to ensure all places are used. Please email if you have any queries about attending.
Other workshops: You can book this course as a stand alone course, or book to attend the other two workshops in the course - scotch bonnet and broad leaf thyme.
We will be having a celebration of this project on 21st June at the garden! Please save the date and come along to see an exhibition of photos from this course as well as food and a Caribbean plant sale.
