DIY Strap Making Workshop

We are so unique and we deserve straps that fit us and feel euphoric to wear! Repurposing second-hand bags and belts into custom straps, I'll teach you how to rivet press and fashion your dream harness... either choose from my collection of bags and belts or bring along an old clutch that needs a cheeky new purpose. Make do and make sexy! There will be a selection of patterns available, or I will teach you how to make your own and a variety of different clasps/buckle attachments to choose from.

We have a huge collection of second-hand bags, belts, buckles, book covers, balls and hardware which our straps are created from. From scrap to strap, there's something so satisfying about creating something cheeky from an outdated clutch.

We will have optional comfort breaks, folks will be seated at tables, there will be a rivet press on another table - which either can be moved to participants on table or participants can travel between tables for use of machine.

Our hope is to run an accessible, gentle workshop space where you'll learn new skills and harness your creativity...

About the facilitator

Dee (they/them) is a queer, gender fluid artist. The project was initially created through an Impractical Strap On Making Party they hosted for their birthday! Having worked as a Costume Prop Maker and Textile Artist in theatre, making harnesses, belts, bags, hats etc. I wanted to share these skills and empower folks to create their own custom strap-ons that reflect our individual styles.

Covid safety at the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre

To keep our community safe, we ask that all visitors to not visit the Centre if they're feeling any Covid-19 symptoms including a headache, fever, sore throat, consistent cough and chills.

You can wear a mask if you feel more comfortable. We also have masks and hand sanitiser available at the Centre.
