About the event

Derrière on a G String
Very fun, quite silly, and rather naughty; this new comedy gleefully subverts the best loved pieces of classical music in ways you’ve never thought of them before.

With a relatable and familiar comedic style ranging from the likes of Laurel and Hardy to Mitchell and Webb, Derrière on a G String comments, without words, on the daily struggles of modern life.

From chaos and carnage to homoerotic romp, this original series of dance and physical theatre sketches by Some Smith and Moore is an evening to expect the unexpected.
📍 Venue Description: The King's Head Theatre is a celebrated fringe venue in north London, known for its intimate setting, bold programming, and rich legacy of nurturing emerging talent.

Founded in 1970, it was the first pub theatre established in London since Shakespeare’s day, and continues to host an eclectic mix of drama, opera, comedy and new writing. Located in the heart of Islington, the King's Head Theatre is housed in a Victorian pub brimming with old-world charm—complete with gas lamps, a coal fire, and one of the UK’s last remaining pre-decimal tills.

Over the years, King’s Head Theatre London has become synonymous with daring, progressive productions and a vibrant community of artists. The venue’s cosy atmosphere creates a powerful connection between audience and performance, making it a unique and memorable night out in the capital.

### The History of King's Head Theatre
The King’s Head Theatre occupies a site that has been home to a public house since the 1500s. Its name is rumoured to stem from Henry VIII, who allegedly stopped for a pint on his way to see his mistress. In 1970, Dan Crawford transformed a back room of the pub into a performance space, creating London’s first new pub theatre in centuries.

Crawford’s tenure lasted 35 years, during which the King’s Head Theatre gained a reputation for launching careers and championing new voices. In 2010, UpClose Productions took up residence and continued this tradition, producing acclaimed operas and bold new plays. Today, King’s Head Theatre London remains a hotbed for emerging creatives, with many alumni now working at leading UK institutions like the National Theatre, RSC, and the Globe.
