Choral concert from Caroline Ensemble - Reflections on Conflict
The Caroline Ensemble presents a programme of a cappella music reflecting on themes of war and oppression. Spanning centuries and styles, the repertoire includes works by Byrd, Elgar, Mauersberger, McDowall, and Poulenc - composers who each respond to conflict in strikingly different ways. From quiet lament to bold resistance, the music offers a powerful look at how art can speak in times of turmoil, offering both reflection and resilience.

About the Caroline Ensemble
The Caroline Ensemble is a chamber choral group made up of eight singers who first met as members of the Imperial College Chamber Choir. Together, they bring a wide breadth of vocal experience, including choral scholarships at Christ Church Chelsea, St John's Fulham, Truro Cathedral, and Queen’s College, Oxford. Their backgrounds also span performances with the Imperial Opera Society and current study at the Royal College of Music.
The ensemble enjoys exploring a diverse repertoire across various time periods and styles. While based in London, they regularly perform throughout the UK and beyond. Last summer, they toured France, performing in churches across the country as well as in the atmospheric Grotte des Demoiselles (picture above).
