Welcome to the MATREP Study dissemination event hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Baby Loss.
In 2015 the government set a target to halve the number of mothers and babies who die and are injured around the time of birth, by 2025. The government funded two investigation/review processes to support this aim: the maternity investigations - now called Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigations (MNSI) - and the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT).
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) have funded the MATREP Study to evaluate the conduct and effectiveness of these programmes from the perspectives of:

Info: We will summarise the study design that incorporates the perspectives of:
1. Parents and families who have participated in one or both programmes,
2. NHS staff responsible for their implementation within the NHS,
3. National programme leads responsible for assessing national impact and learning.
Info: We will present the key findings from the parent & family interviews and national survey, staff interviews and resource surveys. Recommendations and key discussion points will be summarised in the policy briefing.
