How can assessment be inclusive?

This practical session addresses the limitations of one-size-fits-all assessments. It explores the positive impact of creating equitable opportunities for all learners, including those with special educational needs, while catering to cultural differences and varied learning preferences. First, you will learn about the key principles of accessible and inclusive assessment. You will then learn how to integrate these to accommodate diverse needs by providing alternative testing formats and designing fair and unbiased assessments.

Nashwa Aly Muhammad is an English lecturer and assessment specialist at Pharos University in Alexandria, Egypt. She has over a decade of expertise in education and language teaching. Known for her focus on accessibility and inclusivity, Nashwa is dedicated to designing equitable assessment practices and fostering learner-centred learning environments.
