Stop the Bleed!
Become empowered to go from bystander to lifesaver.
Bleeding is the #1 cause of preventable death after injury. This program is designed to train and equip the public with the skills and confidence to act quickly in an emergency. Stop the Bleed will train community members to treat traumatic injuries involving severe bleeding with simple techniques until first responders arrive.
This free interactive training will teach you:
How to recognize life-threatening bleeding
How to apply direct pressure effectively
How to pack a wound using gauze or clean cloth
How to apply a tourniquet correctly and safely
How to communicate with 9-1-1 and bystanders during an emergency
This course is ideal for parents, teachers, coaches, workplace teams, community volunteers, and anyone who wants to be better prepared to respond in an emergency.
BIO: Dr. William Ganske is a general surgeon seeing patients at Lompoc Health – North Third Center. From 2018 to 2024, Dr. Ganske was a Resident Physician in the Department of Surgery at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Previously, he was a production scientist at Integrated DNA Technologies in Iowa and a direct care provider doing in-home care for adults with intellectual disabilities.
