Asylum seekers face significant barriers to healthcare, including challenges with hospital admission, safe discharge, and continuity of care. These barriers can lead to delayed treatment, fragmented care, homelessness, and avoidable readmissions.
The Safe Hospital for Asylum Seekers Initiative is a collaborative knowledge exchange project between Liverpool John Moores University (School of Nursing & Advanced Practice), Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT), and Doctors of the World. Supported by the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF), the project aims to strengthen hospital admission and discharge protocols, train Nurse Champions, and build sustainable partnerships with refugee and migrant organisations.
This knowledge exchange event will bring together healthcare professionals, academics, policy makers, and community organisations.
Share learning from the project.
