PARTNERED TEAM EXTRA DETAILS
The partnered performance team will learn a routine, choreographed and taught by the amazing All-Star dancers Jonathan Prichard and Olya Khvan. This is an amazing opportunity to deepen your understanding of patterns, technique, and musicality—while locking it all into muscle memory through repetition and performance. Learning choreography is one of the fastest ways to level up your dancing!
The goal is to perform the routine at local dance venues and at Denver’s largest National West Coast Swing event, ‘SwingTime’ on Saturday August 16th, 2025. Performing is completely optional as some dancers join just to grow their skills without the pressure of being on stage, and that’s totally welcome.
The cost will require an upfront payment of $75 dollars (+$3.00 transaction fee if using credit card or Venmo). This is to encourage everyone to commit to the entire session of practices as it is very difficult to manage choreography without a consistent team and dancers (After the first week, we won’t be able to offer refunds). Again, this is a great way to accelerate your dancing level, make great friends, and have lots of fun!
A few Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I participate if I can’t attend every week?
Yes, the instructors will provide a video recap of what was covered that week. You can practice what you missed on your own and catch right up.
What level of proficiency in West Coast Swing do I need to be to participate?
The basics of West Coast Swing should already be mastered with 6+ months of experience dancing West Coast Swing. This routine will work on challenging dancers to reach new higher levels, and not teaching the basics. Each dancer will need to pass an Audition to show competency of the West Coast Swing basics Instructors are looking for proficiency in WCS basics and good timing (i.e. sugar push, left/right side passes, basic tucks, basic whip, reverse whip, and left side pass with an inside turn).
Can I participate if I don’t have a partner?
Yes, we will be rotating partners during classes for the first several weeks. Once we get closer to the performance dates, we will identify who wants to do the performance and match up partners.
Can I choose my partner?
Yes, although we may still have the entire class rotate during practice sessions to learn from each other.

The Follows Only team is a new and exciting addition for Season 5, offering a unique opportunity for follows to shine! This team will focus on a choreographed routine that emphasizes styling, musicality, footwork, and body movement specifically tailored for feminine-focused styling to use and improve your West Coast Swing following. Led by the incredibly talented Olya Khvan, this team is a great fit for those looking to level up their dancing in a supportive and empowering environment.
Whether you’re looking to grow your technique, build performance confidence, or simply enjoy the creative process with an awesome group of fellow follows, this team is for you. No partner is needed, and no audition is required—just bring your love for West Coast Swing and a commitment to showing up and having fun!
Just like the partnered team, the performance goal is to showcase the routine at local venues and at SwingTime on August 16th, 2025—but performing is always optional. Many dancers enjoy the journey of learning choreography even without stepping on stage!
