Join Taste of Olam Haba and Jewish communities across the country for “Our Collective Cry to Rebuild Sanctuary,” a public witness and protest against detention and deportation.
On Tisha b’Av, the saddest day of the Jewish calendar, we traditionally mourn the destruction of the Temples in Jerusalem. In 2025, we also mourn the destruction enacted by ICE: the tearing apart of families, the criminalization of migration, and the denial of safety and sanctuary to our neighbors.
We are gathering at City Hall to protest the City of Little Rock’s complicity in this violence. While federal agencies like ICE carry out deportations, our city facilitates harm by cooperating with federal immigration enforcement, failing to provide sanctuary protections, and ignoring the pleas of immigrant communities. This complicity makes Little Rock an unsafe place for many of our neighbors.
As Jews know what happens when the world abandons immigrants and refugees. We carry in our bones the memory of closed borders, of quotas and silence. Our tradition commands us not to forget, not just our own pain, but the sacred obligation it gives us to never turn away from another in need.
Let us mourn together, and let us rise together.
No more deportations. No more complicity. Rebuild sanctuary now.
Never Again is Now.
