About the event

Chorleywood to Chesham via Sarratt, Chenies & Latimer villages 17km
Hello lovely Muddy Hikers :-)

So we are back after our longer summer break and we hope to hike with you again.

I cannot believe that it's 3 years since we have done this very popular and beautiful hike and we would like to repeat it again and also show this pleasant and pretty easy route to our new members.

You are invited to join us on this lovely and ever so popular stunning Chess Valley 17km hike :-)

Chess Valley is one of the most beautiful and tranquil parts of the Chiltern Hills and I have done this walk 5x with various detours and I still love it. The walk dips in and out of the valley, with a number of fine panoramic views. You won't even realise that you are still within reach of the London tube.

Points of an interest on this hike are:

* Tudor style Chenies Manor house

Architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner visited Chenies Manor House in the 1960s and described it as: "Beautifully mellow under the trees by the church, and archaeologically a fascinating puzzle."

* The Church of St Michael's at Chenies

* Latimer House (De Vere Latimer estate)

Dates back to at least 1194 AD but is most famous for its role in World War II as a secret intelligence center for MI5 and MI6, known as No. 1 Distribution Centre and the Combined Services Detailed Interrogation Unit (CSDIC).

* Pretty Latimer village cottages

* River Chess

* Chorleywood house estate park

* Very important pub stop in Chesham (if there is an interest) https://www.queensheadchesham.co.uk/
