Council is inviting community members to take part in small-group focus sessions to help test and refine early ideas and directions for the Growth Management Strategy.
These focus groups are an important step in shaping how Lithgow’s towns, villages and rural areas could grow over the coming decades. The sessions are designed to be practical, open and discussion-based — giving people the chance to talk through proposed planning directions and share local knowledge before the Strategy is drafted.
What will we be discussing?
The focus groups will explore early planning ideas related to:
Where growth may be best located
how housing, jobs and infrastructure can be better coordinated
what areas should be protected for environmental, rural or heritage value
what matters most to your local community
Your feedback will be used to test assumptions, identify gaps, and refine directions before the draft Growth Management Strategy is prepared.
Who can attend?
Anyone who lives, works, owns land, runs a business, or has a strong connection to the Lithgow Local Government Area is welcome to register. We’re keen to hear from people across all towns and villages.
Why take part?
The Growth Management Strategy will guide planning decisions for many years to come. Taking part in a focus group gives you a direct opportunity to help shape those decisions early — before anything is locked in.
How the sessions will work
Focus groups will be held in person across the LGA in February 2026. Each session will run for around two hours and will be facilitated to ensure everyone has a chance to contribute. Places are limited to keep discussions meaningful. Please register for the session that best suits your location.
