This weekend retreat combines two breathtaking Wild Swimming Walks, one coastal and one inland with 2 nights at stunning Haye Cornwall, which includes meeting the animals, learning about land regeneration projects and eating delicious homemade vegan food. This holistic wellbeing retreat is perfect for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle, spend time in the great outdoors and leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The retreat is suitable for those who have tried Wild Swimming in the past, either a regular swimmer or dipper, or someone who is wanting to do more in a safe and supportive environment. Non-swimming partners are welcome to attend, there’s no pressure to swim. These retreats are intimate, with the opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals. There will be a maximum of 6 people so there is plenty of time to get to know each other and relax in this stunning environment.
I’m really excited to be partnering with Haye Cornwall for this retreat, Kate and Phil are just lovely and I dare you not to fall in love with the animals. Not only will you get to meet the dogs and cats, you will also get to meet the 3 donkeys, Buddy the Kune Kune pig, 3 Dartmoor ponies, including new arrival Leo who is already proving popular, and all the chickens. Kate will show you how she looks after the animals using positive reinforcement training and you’ll also get the opportunity to learn about land regeneration. You’ll be staying in a double or twin room in Apple Store Cottage, which has two bathrooms, a cosy lounge with reading nook, and a well-appointed kitchen, or in one of the double rooms in the 1500s farmhouse.
The first of the two Wild Swimming Walks will be my popular Rame Head and Penlee Point circular route with stunning coastal views throughout. There are two opportunities to swim en route, one in a sheltered cove at Penlee Point and the other at the end of the walk back at Cawsand beach. As with everything I do swimming/dipping is optional and you can get in for as long as suits you, no pressure. On the Sunday we then head inland to the beautiful town of Minions where we will do a circular route taking in the stunning natural rock formation of the Chessewring, from which there are 360 degree views, before heading to Gold Diggins Quarry for a swim. This high sided quarry is popular with Wild Swimmers and I totally agree, it’s stunning and really quite a special place. We will also visit the famous stone circles known as the hurlers.
