Come move your body to carefully curated global sounds and melodies. We will dive deep and let our bodies flow and heal to music. This workshop will contain stretching, easy to follow choreography, and end with a guided meditation and gratitude exercise.

About the instructors:
Allen Turner is a game designer, storyteller, artist, author, composer and performer who has been involved in storytelling and education most of his adult life. He teaches game and design at DePaul University and runs the DePaul Originals Game Studio. He believes in the power of play and story as fundamental, powerful medicines which shape our sense of self, relationships, and our connection to the cosmos.
As a performer he enjoys exploring the narrative power of dance as a space of personal ritual and transformation via various forms of folkloric dance. His motions pull from all of his heritages and experiences with various teachers becoming a fluid blend of Raqs Sharqi, Butoh, West African, and North American Men’s Traditional and Omaha (Grass) dances.

Radia Ali, also known on stage as Noori, is a multidisciplinary movement artist, poet, fire dancer and educator. Her dance background includes South Asian classical and folk, flamenco, bachata, hip hop, dancehall, tango, belly dance and burlesque. She uses props such as silk veils, fire fans and swords to tell stories across cultures with her movements.
Radia has performed with live music acts both locally and globally. More recently she has produced East Winds, a festival celebrating Asian arts and community. She teaches workshops and classes focused on exploring the history of dance and music. She is dedicated to decolonizing dance practices, and encourages her students to practice body liberation through movement.
