Broc Hempel Trio

Broc Hempel, a pianist, composer, and Lincoln, Nebraska native, has been a vibrant presence on the New York City jazz scene since 2004. He has performed at renowned venues like Birdland and The Jazz Gallery, sharing the stage with top-tier jazz artists such as Seamus Blake, Donny McCaslin, and David Binney. A graduate of William Paterson University's prestigious jazz program, Hempel studied under legendary musicians like Harold Mabern and James Williams, and spent a formative year immersed in Brazilian music in Rio de Janeiro. In 2009, he co-founded the trio Trample Man with fellow Nebraskan Christian Coleman and bassist Sam Trapchak. His early music journey began in Lincoln Southeast High School's jazz band, where he performed at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and earned accolades like the NJO Young Jazz Artist award. Hempel’s recorded work includes appearances on projects like Hyeseon Hong’s 2017 album Ee-Ya-Gi.
