Dreams of the Blood: Neotraditional Japanese Art

The name “Dreams of the blood” / “Τα ονειρα του αιματος” is born from a deep-red synaesthetic image that perfectly describes the state of the world today. On the one hand, the proverbial blood is boiling, and the world is full of hate, war, and division. On the other hand, blood is what makes as human and we always strive to form blood bonds with other people.

The sensation also describes my own experiences with political activism, repeated heartbreak, isolation, and a long cycle of self-improvement and self-destruction.

The works on display will showcase anger, bitterness, resentment, drunken stupor, and the inability to move past trauma. But they will also show persistence, warmth, and empathy. We all dream of the blood in all its forms, and the blood dreams of us, for better or for worse.
