1.30-3.00pm Fugue'n'Groove
Fugue and Groove is a unique trio which fuses together jazz and classical music. They deliver fresh and inventive arrangements of well known classics such as Massenet’s Meditation, Mozart’s Turkish March, Dvořák’s Humoresque and Air on a G String (as per the Hamlet Cigar advertising music by the eclectic Jacques Loussier).
With solos showcasing their individual inventiveness, improvisational brilliance, and seamless interplay, they create a dynamic experience that is both lyrical and high-energy, ranging from evocative ballads to fast, driving swing. The presentation is entertaining and informal with well balanced light-hearted commentary and introductions.
Individually, members of the trio have worked with an impressive roster of renowned artists and established jazz musicians, including Alex Clarke, Greg Abate, Simon Spillett, B.D. Lenz, Ray Gelato, Kenny Ball, Idina Menzel, Ringo Starr, and Dave Stewart.
Their performances have taken us to some of the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals, including the Umbria Jazz Festival, Lincoln Center (New York), Ambassadors Theatre, Glastonbury Festival, South by Southwest (SXSW), and La Bâtie Festival (Geneva). Recent highlights as individuals include a live performance on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and appearances at one of London’s premier jazz venues, Pizza Express Jazz Club.
Fugue and Groove's performances captivate audiences with a mix of recognition and surprise, offering melodies that feel familiar but come brilliantly disguised, blending timeless musical traditions with contemporary creativity in a way that continues to push boundaries and delight listeners.
3.30-5.00pm Adams & Friends
Adams & Friends is a musical collaboration led by vintage Birmingham drummer Roy Adams which features some of the UK's finest musicians including Chris 'Beebe' Aldridge on Saxes, Steve Cooper on Guitar, and Colin Peters on Bass. Roy has toured, recorded and gigged with the likes of Roy Wood, Ruby Turner, the Climax Blues Band, Mica Paris, Tony Christie and many more. Everyone in the band is at the top of their musical game, and are first call for many of the UK's leading artists. Definitely a gig not to be missed, with a melting pot of fusion, jazz, gospel and blues, mixed to perfection!
