The Open of UK Old School Magic returns in London for its fourth incarnation on 9th August 2025.
Gather with us at an idyllic canalside venue in East London to decide the new UK champion of Old School (and, just as importantly, enjoy turning cardboard together over a few drinks).
Can Jason S repeat his heroics and claim a third successive trophy?
Entry fee is £15, including a giveaway on the day. Registration begins at midday sharp, with play commencing thirty minutes later - also sharp.
All profits from the event will go to LICK (London Inner City Kitties), our partner charity. We would like to thank LVLS, our host venue, for their generous support of us in this aim.
Although the coveted Open Trophy is up for grabs, the Brothers of Fire play philosophy is still in full effect - this means we avoid overly-competitive playing and frown upon gamesmanship, slow play, etc. We are all here to have fun.
Key details:
- Swedish B&R (if you don't know what this means, Google it or ask us)
- We have a liberal reprint policy, following standard UK rules (i.e. nearly any non-foil old-frame card is legal - including Revised, Fourth and Fifth edition, and Timeshifted cards with the original frame and art).
- Cards in the 'new' frame, all proxies, gold-bordered cards, foils, M30 cards, Collectors' Edition, and International Collectors' Edition are NOT legal for this event. However, you are welcome to play all of these cards in casual games afterwards.
Prizes:
- The winner receives a trophy
- There will be a spice/sportsmanship prize of a signed card
Afterwards, everyone is encouraged to stick around for cube and casual games, including our house format, Brothers' Highlander.
