It’s Final Friday Again and Art Walk Season Is in Full Swing
Summer arts are at their peak in Lewiston and Auburn, especially with this month’s Art Walk LA coinciding with the Bates Dance Festival. On Friday, July 25th, the bounty of downtown Lewiston’s arts district will once again spill out onto the sidewalks, with fine arts, local crafts, hands-on artmaking opportunities, and live performances indoors and out.
On the final Friday of each month, from May through September, LA Arts brings local and regional artists and community together for this free, family-friendly event. July Art Walk’s featured artists, performers, vendors, and venues include:
- Gesel Mason: BDF Yes, AND installation and dance activation at LA Arts (168 Lisbon St.);
- Maine Marimba Ensemble and Aerial Jade performing in Dufresne Plaza
- Strings performance by Jessie and Greg Boardman, and Brook -Savage outside Maine People’s Alliance (155 Lisbon St.);
- Visual arts and crafts: Block prints by Kate Cargile (MEDco 40 Lisbon St.), Julia Provse (The Vault, Edna Sebastiaō (Angolan Community of Maine, 86 Lisbon St.), Lynne Hazelton (Quiet City Books, 124 Lisbon St.), Jason Alexander (Ellard Studios, upstairs at 178 Lisbon St.), Nilch (Munka, 221 Lisbon St.), work by Melanie Therrain across the river at Gritty McDuff’s (68 Main St., Auburn), and others;
- Face painting by Sasha Michaud in the Wicked Wing Alley family zone;
- Hands-on activities with Art Van;
- J Fiori Caricatures;
- Musical instruments, featuring a violin made by local violinist Leu Baule at Androscoggin Historical Society (93 Lisbon St.);
- Friends of LPL book giveaway outside the Lewiston Public Library;
- Creative Movement with Hannah Haines from Ballet Bloom Project (Maine MILL, 35 Canal St.)
- Be a part of the art Henna Hand Painting, plus works by Melanie Therrain and Bryce Cloutie (Wicked Illustrations, 140 Canal St.)
