The Listening Room is a collaboration between the CommUnity Zone and the Local Music Collective to create a relaxed listening atmosphere featuring artists of all genres. Admission is $10 (free for children 12 and under!) and doors open at 6:30 pm. Light refreshments are provided.
Meet Our October Artists!
John “JT” Thompson (aka JTBlues) is an inimitable fixture in the Central Pennsylvania music scene. He performs regularly with several notable local ensembles, and also as a soloist. Influenced by legendary piano players like Dr. John, Ann Rabson, Professor Longhair, and Bill Payne, JT’s style is rooted in the Blues, but his repertoire encompasses much more than that, covering popular music, classic rock, standards - and his own original tunes.
Cody Augustus knew from an early age that he wanted to write, having drafted his first song at the age of only six; his Mom swears she still has it somewhere. Growing up in northeast PA, surrounded by farms and forests, has instilled in him a sense of melancholy that is pervasive in his song-writing. He'll often joke that his preferred genre of music is "sad". He draws influence largely from nature, travels, and the lives of rural suburbia, while his song-writing pulls from a blend of soft folk, indie, and emo styles. He currently lives in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, working in a kitchen and hosting open mic nights at Brewski's Coffee & Bar.
